Starlight Baptist Church adopts and affirms that we believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing and that they are the final Authority in faith and for the conduct of the Church and human affairs

To build a biblical community of loving relationships whose members daily and devoutly love, follow, and model Jesus Christ

To seek, invite, and compel people to come to church, establish a personal relationship with Christ, and belong to a local family of believers, and teach and equip people to progressively, first and wholly love, magnify, and obey God through worship, fellowship, discipleship, stewardship, service, and evangelism.

Our Core Values

  • We believe that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant Word of God. The scriptures are our Authority.
  • We believe that Jesus is God, and the Lord of our lives. We believe in the pre-existence of Jesus and His second coming.
  • We believe the Church's first purpose is to win people to the Christian family of God.
  • We believe that God loves unchurched people; therefore, so should we, the Church.
  • We believe that we were created to praise God, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and our chief aim is to worship Him, and that music and singing are a primary channel for worship and praise.
  • We believe that the five key functions of the church include worship, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism, and stewardship.
  • We believe that praise is a part of prayer and prayer is a part of praise, and there is power and victory in praise, the, same as there is power in prayer.
  • We believe that preaching and teaching are interrelated, but the vessel and channel of the pulpit best exhort the Gospel, which is the power unto salvation.
  • We believe in a unified budget and that the Church should be accountable to every member for every cent received.
  • We believe that excellence and harmony honor God and inspire people. This includes concepts of evaluation, organization, critical review, and maintaining a mess-free environment.
  • We believe that the Church should be culturally relevant while remaining scripturally and doctrinally pure. Therefore, our methods must constantly change, but the message always remains the same. This includes the concept of sensitivity related to music, the use of the creative arts (drama), printed material, and the design of facilities.
  • We believe that the Christian life is the beginning of a continuous journey of growth in the likeness of Christ. (discipleship)
  • We believe that identifying and cultivating each member’s passion and spiritual gifts for ministry is the key to effective ministry and mission production. Therefore, the church should be led by men and women with appropriate leadership gifts.
  • We believe in the priesthood of believers, and that every believer is a minister. Therefore, every member should pursue their ministry based on their spiritual gifts profile.
  • We believe in the assurance of eternal salvation and that the filling of the Holy Spirit is more than a one-time event, primarily manifested by living a victorious life.
  • We believe that our children and youth are as much the church of today as they are of the church tomorrow, and this value should be reflected in the allocation of our resources and the appropriation of our facilities.
  • We believe that only those who do the praying and praising as demonstrated by their participation in worship and Bible studies, and active stewardship, demonstrated by consistent giving (tithes and offerings) as prescribed in the Church by-laws, should participate in the planning and decision-making.
